This is a reminder that schools will be closed on Monday, October 14, in observance of Columbus Day. Additionally, Wednesday, October 16 marks the end of the nine-week grading period, and students will have an early dismissal that day.

It was a true privilege to honor Ivan Monroe Snoddy, Derwood Franklin Guthrie, Mary Shelton Jones, and Gwendolyn Lewis Gregory by presenting resolutions to their families at tonight’s Buckingham County School Board meeting. Their legacies of service, dedication, and impact on our community will continue to inspire us all. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to recognize these remarkable individuals and celebrate their contributions alongside their loved ones.

The Buckingham CTE student organizations, with the help of the BCHS Drama Dept., are hosting "The Haunted CTE". It is a one-night spook event at the Buckingham CTE. The public is invited. The charge for entry is $5.00. Parking is in the BCHS Bus Loop. There will be food & drinks available for purchase. All children 13 & under are required to have an adult companion to participate. Buckingham County Public Schools will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Thursday, October 3rd. We are excited to remind everyone that the Homecoming Parade will take place tomorrow evening at 6:00 PM. The parade will start at Gilliam Motors and proceed down Main Street to the train depot.
Following the parade, we will host an indoor community pep rally in the high school gym. Due to the weather, there will not be an outdoor bonfire. Please note that the school’s clear bag policy will be in effect for anyone entering the gym for the pep rally.
The first 500 people in attendance at the pep rally will receive a free hot dog and drink.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night to celebrate Homecoming!

Buckingham County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, October 2, to allow VDOT time to inspect bridges before buses resume their routes. Twelve-month employees should report to work only if they can safely do so. Please stay safe!

As a precautionary measure to increase public safety, Buckingham County Public Schools (BCPS) will be implementing a new clear bag policy for all high school sporting events beginning September 20, 2024. Please see the attached letter for guidelines.

On the evening of September 19th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, the First Lady of Virginia Suzanne S. Youngkin and award-winning social psychologist, author, and researcher Dr. Jonathan Haidt will convene a fireside chat to discuss the findings of Haidt’s book The Anxious Generation and how it informs our communities and schools in limiting social media and cell phone use to help restore childhood and play. The event will be broadcasted live to all participating schools. Further details about the event. can be found on the VDOE website
