As we monitor the weather forecast for this week, there is a strong chance of snow and ice impacting our area. To ensure student learning continues, we are preparing for Unscheduled Remote Learning Days as outlined by the Virginia Department of Education. Here’s what you need to know: High School students should check Google Classroom for their assignments and complete work as directed by their teachers. Middle School, Elementary, and Primary students will receive learning packets to complete. If they have access to a device, they may also follow along with Google Classroom instructions. Teachers will provide more guidance and will be available to assist students tomorrow. Parents, please ensure your child is aware of these expectations and has the materials they need. More details will be shared by your child’s school tomorrow should we need them. Thank you for your flexibility and support in keeping learning on track despite the weather. Stay safe and warm!

Buckingham County Public Schools (BCPS) remains committed to providing a secure and structured learning environment for all students. While national conversations about immigration policies continue, our school division's policies and procedures have not changed. At BCPS, we uphold the law, ensuring that all students receive an education, as required by the Supreme Court’s 1982 ruling. Our primary responsibility is to focus on education and the well-being of our students, allowing them to learn without unnecessary disruption. Key Points: • BCPS follows all federal and state laws regarding student access to education. • Schools do not inquire about immigration status and do not share confidential student records without legal justification. • BCPS will continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies while ensuring adherence to due process and legal protections. • Any requests for law enforcement access to school facilities, including from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will be carefully reviewed to ensure compliance with established legal procedures. Our role as a school division is to educate and prepare students for success. BCPS remains dedicated to upholding the law, maintaining order, and ensuring that our schools remain a safe, productive place for learning. Thank you.
