In June, proficiency winners Jenna Oliver and Noah Jones received their plaque and monetary prize for winning their Proficiency Award at the state level. They were recognized at the state level during the Virginia FFA State Convention held on the campus of Virginia Tech. By winning the state level, their applications were sent to the national level for judging. Their applications were considered against other state winners and ranked on a National Finalist, Gold, Silver, or Bronze rating scale. Both Jenna and Noah’s applications ranked at the silver level. They both received a pin from the National FFA Organization for their accomplishment.
Jenna Oliver was the state winner of the Equine Science Placement Division. This award program is based on her application for the position, formed after she worked at Sprouse's Corner Ranch, LLC. Noah Jones was the state winner for the Forestry Management and Products Placement Division. His application is based on his work at S.R. Jones Logging Company.
Their applications encompassed questions about their supervised agricultural experience, such as what their responsibilities were, what skills they learned, what challenges they faced, and how their S.A.E. impacted their career choice. This application also required them to keep records of their hours, money earned, and money spent during their time as a FFA member. A Supervised Agricultural Experience is essential for FFA members to earn higher degrees in the FFA. These two members can earn their American FFA Degree in November 2025 due to the hours spent on their S.A.E. and activities as FFA members.
